Focus Areas

HYPA's services are aligned to four primary priorities in a young person's life:
Home, Wellbeing, Learning and Working

Wellbeing

Taking an holistic approach to assist our clients to focus on positive health and quality of life.

The initiatives below are current programs and services offered by HYPA Wellbeing.  Individually and collectively they assist young people in gaining life skills, facing challenges and accomplishing constructive change to their lives.

Geared2Drive

Geared2Drive has been introduced to help young people aged 16-25 become licenced drivers.  Current legislation requires that Learners undertake 75 hours of supervised driving with a licenced adult before they can test for their Provisional licence.  But not all young people have access to an adult with whom they can fulfil the 75 hour supervised driving obligation and this can be a significant barrier to young people gaining their driver’s licence.

Geared2Drive provides cars and volunteer supervising drivers to overcome this barrier and provide more young people with the opportunity to eventually become fully licenced drivers.

Ignition©

Ignition© is a program designed to improve the social and independent living skills of young people involved with the criminal justice system.  As a group program, participants meet and participate in activities as a group rather than on a one-on-one basis. Ignition© assists young people to make positive changes to attitudes and lifestyles that have been barriers to staying out of the justice system and maintaining their housing.
