Developing & Facilitating Group Programs

HYPA has extensive experience in developing and facilitating group programs for a wide range of young people experiencing homelessness, disconnection, unemployment and/or youth justice issues. It has been proven to assist in the engagement of young people and help develop a range of skills that they can transfer to their pathway in achieving their goals.

Topics covered in the workshop include: 

  • The benefits of group work and the theories behind this
  • Youth participation – finding needs and gaps within the community
  • What is required in the development of a program
  • What is required in the facilitation of a program
  • Behaviour management strategies and procedure

 This workshop is suitable for…practitioners in the health and welfare fields wanting to extend their knowledge and skills to effectively run group programs.

Learning objectives:

Participants will:

  1. Have a greater understanding of the reasons as to why groups are beneficial in learning and the theories this is based on
  2. Have increased knowledge into the processes involved in developing and facilitating group programs
  3. Have increased skills and confidence in developing and facilitating group programs
