HYPA™ Workplace Mentor Training Program

Workplace Mentor Training ProgramGood Mentoring can make a crucial difference in the way an individual settles in and acclimatises to their new workplace, and can have a major bearing as to whether they choose to stay for the long term. When mentoring is done right, the results can be extraordinary and highly rewarding.

Who is mentoring the young professionals in your organisation?

Are the mentors specifically selected for their ability to mentor young people and then trained to maximize the benefits to the organisation?

Good mentors are made not born!

It is easy to assume that because a young person appears confident, is skilled and educated (often with a University degree), that they ‘have it all together’. In reality, studies and anecdotal evidence reveal that many young people (18-25 year olds) feel a strong need to access guidance around issues involved in the transition from study to the workforce or ‘jobs’ to ‘career’.

Young people face different issues in the workplace than other generations. They need a mentor who has been trained to facilitate their journey to successful outcomes with those issues. A good mentor training program includes support for the mentors and a process to evaluate the effectiveness of the program via honest feedback from the mentor and the young person being mentored.

A good workplace mentor can help a young person make a successful transition from education to work or from one organisational culture to another. Learning how to manage issues, read cultural norms, and develop positive working relationships are skills a mentor can help a young person develop.

A person often stays where they feel successful and supported.
